Pop-up node is a new feature created for Workflow Studio (WFS). WFS is a no-code workflow builder allowing users to rapidly build, configure and deploy logic-driven identity workflows. It is one of Trulioo’s core products as well as USP.
Industry: Identity Verification Service (SaaS)

Duration: 2.5 weeks
Create a new node called ‘Pop-up’ for WFS. This Pop-up node will be integrated into the existing workflow builder and serve the purpose of providing essential information to end users during the verification process. The form node will be presented to the end user as a pop-up.
The successful design and implementation of the Pop-up node will enable WFS customers to craft a more intuitive and user-friendly verification experience for their end users.
*A node is a unit of the workflow builder that represents a step in a verification process.
To kick off the project, I scheduled a meeting with the project manager to learn more about the problem and the use cases for the new feature we're creating for WFS.
After reviewing the notes from the initial interview, we had a follow-up interview to clarify any questions I had about the feature requirements.
Throughout the project, I maintained close communication with the project manager to ensure that the feature was being developed according to the requirements and to address any issues that arose.
I examined and identified recurring design elements, components, and interactions that are consistently used throughout the WFS user interface.
→ This helps ensure consistency and reduces the unnecessary work of creating similar components.
As the usability backlog manager for WFS, I am aware that we have received some valuable feedback on a similar feature or node. This feedback may be helpful to consider during the design of the Pop-up node. Therefore, I reviewed the backlog and noted down the pain points of the "End form" node. This node enables users to customize the outcome message for workflow results.
→ The most relevant feedback I found was that users do not fully understand the purpose of the "End form" node or how it is presented to end-users, causing hesitation to incorporate the node into their workflow.
This finding was very helpful for brainstorming the design approach for the Pop-up node.
I studied the user interface (UI) designs of various products that have similar features or functionalities to identify recurring design patterns, best practices, and industry trends.
